About Us

The Short

The idea for Disc Hopper arose from the frustrations of searching for a particular disc without success. We knew there had to be a better way, a better experience - something streamlined and effortless, with a search you could put on auto-pilot. So that's what we set out to create. An app-based marketplace for both buying and selling that's designed just for Disc Golfers!

The Long

While out playing a round at my local course one day, I was discussing the hurdles that the average disc golfer faced when searching for a disc. Most players have a favorite retailer, but when they're out of stock, the search begins. With limited options for brick and mortar stores, that leaves online retailers, auction websites, and social media groups as our primary options. With the unprecedented growth of the sport, many once easily sourced discs are now in short supply. We are left with few choices. Either we bounce around from site to site browsing various retailers, slog through general purpose web marketplaces, try our luck on one of the numerous social media buy/sell groups, or even, find ourself digging through boxes of discs in the back of some guy's van. After countless searches without luck, I knew there had to be a better way, and the idea for Disc Hopper was born.

I reached out to a lifelong friend who just so happened to build apps for a living! While not a "hardcore" disc golfer like myself, he had played a few casual rounds before. Luckily for me, he understood my vision, enjoyed the sport, and had faith in the project's potential.

What makes us different from other platforms out there? Quite simply, it's the ease of use and a streamlined set of features geared specifically with the disc golfer in mind. If you've ever sold a disc online then you know all too well the annoyances involved. Whether it's dealing with convoluted high fee structures that crush your earnings, or experiencing the frustrating social media buy/sell group pages (sorting though tons of bids, reaching out to each buyer to set up payments, confirming payments, getting address info, etc.). It's a messy process that we aim to clean up. The buying process is just as annoying, for instance, when you are outbid on a social media group page, how do you know? We fixed that too, with notifications you'll save tons of time.

It's that constant searching that led us to another feature that truly sets us apart: Saved Searches. Can't find your disc of choice in the current listings? Select any number of disc parameters under the Favorites screen and create a Saved Search. You'll be notified when your disc comes into the marketplace. No more endless searching - problem solved.

Welcome to Disc Hopper, we hope you enjoy your experience!
